Supreme Court Allows Religious Organizations to Challenge New York’s Abortion Regulations

Washington (AP) – Supreme Court On Monday, I instructed a New York court to review certain matters. Religious organizations should be exempt from state mandates requiring health insurance plans to provide coverage for abortions.

The court took action after unanimously supporting Wisconsin at the start of June. Discriminated against Catholic charities by mandating the state to pay unemployment taxes.

The New York case presents comparable issues regarding exemptions for religious employers, especially when the state promotes religious values and primarily hires and serves individuals of their faith. Conversely, religious organizations that engage and employ individuals without regard to their beliefs do not qualify for these exemptions.

The Roman Catholic parish in Albany and various other church groups contested the regulation.

This marks the second occasion the nation’s highest court has referred the case back to a New York court. Last year, the New York Court of Appeals upheld the regulations after examining the unanimous ruling from the Supreme Court in 2021 regarding Benefits for Catholic foster parents in Philadelphia, which declined to collaborate with same-sex couples due to religious objections to same-sex marriage.
