Stephen A. Smith is broadening his broadcasting range beyond ESPN. He covers more than just sports.
On Wednesday, SiriusXM, a satellite radio network, announced the signing of Smith for two new shows. One will be a daily sports talk show featured on SiriusXM’s Mad Dog Sports Radio, a channel established by Talk Radio Personality Chris Russo.
Additionally, Smith will be creating weekly shows that delve into current events, pop culture, and social commentary. SiriusXM indicated that both programs are set to launch in September. While the specifics remain undisclosed, it is known to be a multi-year agreement.
“September can’t come fast enough,” Smith remarked. “It’s been a significant amount of time since I last engaged with callers on the radio. I’m eager to get started again.”
This new arrangement will not impact Smith’s Contract with ESPN, where he regularly appears on “First Take.” His popularity with younger audiences has even sparked discussions about his potential candidacy in politics, and he has been involved in media discussions where topics extend beyond sports.
In 2023, he published a book titled Straight Shooter: Memoirs of Second Chance and First Take.
