Democrat John Fetterman, along with Pennsylvania’s two U.S. Senators and Republican David McCormick, participated in a 30-minute discussion on Monday, answering questions posed by Fox News Sunday anchor Shannon Bream at the Edward M. Kennedy Institute in Boston.
The trio found common ground on several topics, such as foreign policy, while politely disagreeing on others, including Trump’s tax cuts, spending reductions, and the Border Patrol Bill.
Fetterman has made it clear that he opposes reductions in Medicaid and food assistance. Conversely, McCormick emphasizes the importance of tax cuts, spending cuts, and enhanced border security, although he also believes that benefits for vulnerable populations should not be diminished by the federal government.
Last November, a friendship blossomed between Fetterman and McCormick as they rallied around long-serving Senator Bob Casey. Fetterman has garnered some Republican support due to his differing views from Democrats on issues related to Israel and border policies.
On foreign policy, both gentlemen stand as strong advocates for Israel, opposing the conflict with Hamas and nuclear-armed Iran, even if it entails Israel targeting Iran’s nuclear facilities.
