On Saturday, President Donald Trump made an announcement regarding the deployment of 2,000 National Guard troops to Los Angeles County in response to widespread violent protests against federal immigration enforcement. Reports indicate that protestors allegedly included explosives targeting vehicles, federal buildings, and law enforcement officials. Protesters also hurled rocks and concrete at federal agents. According to Fox News.
This week, ICE agents arrested foreign criminals in Los Angeles, many with extensive criminal records involving attacks, domestic violence, robbery, child abuse, drug offenses, and trafficking. Reportedly, this information came from the Department of Homeland Security.
On Saturday, law enforcement utilized tear gas against rioters in Paramount, California. Fox News reports that multiple individuals were arrested on allegations of assaulting federal agents, according to US Border Patrol’s Michael W. Banks. He stated.
The violence erupted shortly after Bedrum on Friday, where over 1,000 protestors “surrounded federal law enforcement buildings, attacked ICE officials, slashed tires, vandalized structures, and damaged taxpayer-funded property.” According to the Department of Homeland Security, it took the LAPD two hours to respond to the chaos.
Trump criticized California Governor Gavin Newsom and Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass for their handling of the situation.
“If California Governor Gavin Newsgroup and Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass can’t do their jobs—because everyone knows they can’t—the federal government will handle the issues, including the riots and looters!” Trump posted on social media.
“More Empathy”
Newsom countered on X, claiming that Trump’s swift response was “deliberately inflammatory and only escalates tension.”
“LA officials have immediate access to law enforcement resources. We are in close collaboration with the city and county and don’t require federal involvement at this time. The National Guard is effectively assisting LA during this recovery phase. This move is misguided and undermines public trust.”
Trump noted that California has witnessed similar upheaval before. Five years ago this month, Newsom was criticized for allowing unrest that led to damage and disorder during Black Lives Matter protests following the death of convicted felon George Floyd.
“Our destinies are intertwined,” Newsom stated, as reported, demanding “more empathy” in the wake of the destruction.
“The black community is not to blame for the current turmoil in our nation. We bear responsibility.”
This weekend’s violence in Los Angeles County comes amid Democratic politicians rallying to challenge federal immigration efforts. On Tuesday, House Democratic minority leader Hakeem Jeffries joined other Democrats in criticizing federal immigration officials for their behavior following incidents involving agents and their families being threatened by anti-ICE activists.
“This is America, not the Soviet Union,” Jeffries asserted, urging Democrats to “combat” Trump’s policies “on the streets.”
“We are not living behind iron curtains; this isn’t the 1930s. We will ensure accountability, no matter the time it takes,” Jeffries threatened.
As reported, earlier this year, flyers appeared in a Southern California neighborhood featuring the name, photo, and phone number of an ICE officer.
“The Harmful Officer”
This trend isn’t confined to California. Nashville Mayor Freddie O’Connell faced backlash for doxxing federal law enforcement officers in the name of transparency.
Notably, the city of Nashville chose not to disclose the manifesto from a transgender shooter who attacked a Christian elementary school in March 2023, resulting in the deaths of three children and three staff members. Open Records advocates have sued, alleging that the city and the Biden FBI are violating the law.
Tennessee Senator Marsha Blackburn introduced legislation aimed at protecting law enforcement from doxxing.
“My proposed bill will hold mayors accountable for obstructing immigration enforcement and making doxxing illegal, thereby safeguarding law enforcement officials,” the Republican stated. In a statement.
Homeland Security Deputy Director Tricia McLaughlin criticized leftist politicians for their “slander and demonization” of ICE officials.
“Let’s be clear, political figures like Hakeem Jeffries, Mayor Wu of Boston, Tim Walz, and Los Angeles Mayor Bass have contributed to the surge in assaults on ICE officers through their repeated slander and demonization of the agency. Their violent rhetoric, which likens ICE to the Nazi Gestapo, is beyond unacceptable. This violence must cease,” McLaughlin said in a statement. Reported.
“About Law Enforcement Implementation”
Such events mirror the significant costs incurred during the racially charged protests of summer 2020. While CNN and similar outlets portray the violent demonstrations against ICE agents in Los Angeles as almost peaceful, they further exploit and distort the narrative.
“CNN describes this as a ‘legal protest with anxiety,'” noted Liz Wheeler, drawing attention on Saturday via X.
The ongoing attack on law enforcement reflects a broader campaign from the left, characterizing all police as criminals while portraying all criminals as victims. More Americans than ever realize that this perspective is fundamentally distorted. The country, along with Trump, has learned valuable lessons from the chaos wrought by Marxism, and there is little tolerance for attacks on law enforcement.
“This is about enforcing the law, and we will not apologize for that,” Trump stated on Fox News’ Big Weekend Show.
“Attacks on our agents and officers are intolerable,” remarked Banks, chief of the Border Patrol. He posted on X. “Perpetrators will be arrested, and the federal government will take action.”
