Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-Minn.) criticized the Trump administration’s military strategies, asserting that the United States has become “one of the worst countries.”
In a recent interview, Omar highlighted that the deployment of U.S. troops to protests in Los Angeles occurred during the same week.
“Can you imagine the imagery coming from our nation? I grew up in a dictatorship, and I don’t even recall seeing such things,” Omar reflected on her childhood in Somalia.
“To think of being a beacon of hope for the world, yet now our military has become one of the worst countries in our community, disregarding the constitutional rights of individuals, while millions of dollars support a president who behaves like a failing dictator, complete with a military parade — it’s truly astonishing,” she remarked.
Omar urged that this scene should motivate Americans to voice their concerns publicly.
“All Americans need to say, ‘This is not the country we were born into. This is not the nation we believe in. This is not what our founding fathers envisioned, nor does it reflect the ideals, values, and support enshrined in our constitution.’
“We must all come together, take to the streets, and resist what is happening this week,” she concluded.
