TORONTO (AP) – Nikita Kucherov of the Tampa Bay Lightning has received the Ted Lindsay Award, recognizing him as the NHL’s top player as voted by his peers.
The NHL Players Association revealed the award on Wednesday. Kucherov was a finalist alongside his Colorado teammates Nathan MacKinnon and Cale Makar.
Kucherov led the league in goals with impressive stats of 121 points, including 37 goals and 84 assists. He is also a finalist for the Hart Trophy, competing with Edmonton’s Leon Draisaitl and Winnipeg’s Connor Hellebuyck for the title of most valuable player.
The 31-year-old Russian winger has won back-to-back Art Ross Trophies after his stellar performance last season. He previously earned the Hart Trophy in 2019 and played a key role in Tampa Bay securing the Stanley Cup in 2020 and 2021.
Since becoming a full-time player in the league in the 2014-15 season, only Oilers captain Connor McDavid has outscored him in regular-season points, with 1,082 to Kucherov’s 976.
