NEW YORK (AP) — Michael Jordan is set to join NBC Sports as a special contributor to its NBA coverage as the 2025-26 season kicks off.
The announcement was made by NBC on Monday morning during a presentation at Radio City Music Hall, highlighting the network’s plans for the upcoming television season.
“I’m thrilled to witness the NBA’s return to NBC,” Jordan stated in a video message. “The NBA on NBC holds significant meaning for my career, and I eagerly anticipate being a special contributor to this initiative. I can’t wait to see everyone when the NBA begins this October.”
This marks NBC’s return to NBA broadcasts after a 23-year hiatus, having previously aired the league from 1990 to 2002 when Jordan led the Chicago Bulls to six championships.
It’s Jordan’s first engagement with the network. His insights during the 2020 documentary “The Last Dance,” which focused on his career and the conclusion of the 1998 Bulls Dynasty, garnered significant attention.
“Michael’s legacy is undeniable, both on and off the court,” remarked NBC Sports President Rick Koldella. “We are thrilled to have him join our coverage.”
The 11-year partnership between NBC, the NBA, and the WNBA will commence in October. Peacock will exclusively stream the Monday night games, while NBC/Peacock will present a regional doubleheader on Tuesdays. Additionally, Sunday Night Basketball will debut in January on NBC and Peacock.
