Sen. Roger Marshall (R-Kan.) labeled the ongoing feud between tech billionaire Elon Musk and President Trump as a sideshow, asserting that the Senate is prioritizing the passage of Trump’s “big and beautiful bill.”
“This is merely a minor distraction—a little side circus,” Marshall stated during an interview with News Nation’s Blake Berman on “The Hill.” “We are fully committed to getting ‘one big beautiful bill’ passed.”
On Thursday, Trump’s relationship with Musk deteriorated publicly. During a meeting at the Oval Office with German Prime Minister Friedrich Merz, Trump expressed his surprise and disappointment regarding Musk, who had previously campaigned against the president’s key policy initiative.
Musk responded on social media, asserting his role in Trump’s anticipated victory in the November 2024 election. In a post on X, he also alleged that Trump had ties to Convicted Sex Offender Jeffrey Epstein, a figure involved in financial dealings.
“We are committed to avoiding the largest tax increase in American history,” Marshall remarked about the “big and beautiful bill.” “We will work to remove illegal immigrants from Medicaid, highlighting the numerous positive aspects of this legislation.
Musk also expressed support for Trump’s opponents on the same day, marking a notable shift from the previously antagonistic interactions between the tech mogul and the president earlier this year.
“Trump vs. Elon. Who’s going to come out on top? I’m placing my bets on Elon. Trump should be replaced, and JD Vance is the answer,” said right-wing author Ian Miles Chong in a post on X.
“Absolutely,” Musk replied roughly 20 minutes later to Chong’s comment.
