JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (AP) — Logan Cook of Jacksonville is now the highest-paid punter in the NFL.
Sources close to the negotiations have revealed that Cook has inked a four-year, $16 million contract extension with the Jaguars. The details of the contract have not been disclosed by either party, prompting the source to speak with the Associated Press on the condition of anonymity on Monday.
Cook, who earned second-team All-Pro honors in 2024, was set to enter the final year of his second contract with the team. He was projected to earn $3 million in 2025, but after achieving his first Pro Bowl selection last year, he is due for a pay increase. It remains uncertain how new general manager James Gladstone and coach Liam Cohen will approach Cook’s contract situation.
The Jaguars selected Cook in the seventh round of the 2018 draft from Mississippi, making him the longest-tenured player on the roster.
Turning 30 next month, Cook achieved a career-high average of 49.4 yards per punt last season, along with a net punting average of 44.8 yards.
He ranks seventh in the league among punters in terms of average contract value, currently leading ahead of Seattle’s Michael Dickson, whose contract averages $3.67 million annually.
Cook holds the NFL record for the highest net punting average of 43.5 yards since statistics began being tracked in 1976.
Additionally, he successfully placed 41.8% of his punts within the 20-yard line, the best mark in team history.
