ATLANTICS, N.J. (AP) — Two invaluable instruments belonging to members of the rock band Heart were stolen from a New Jersey venue last weekend as the group gears up for a national tour.
The band was scheduled to commence A heart-warming night at the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Atlantic City on Saturday, with the equipment having been set up the day prior. The stolen items include a custom-built purple sparkle baritone telecaster guitar with a hand-drawn headstock created for band member Nancy Wilson, as well as a vintage 1966 Gibson EM-50 mandolin, which band member Paul Moak has played for over 25 years.
“These instruments are much more than mere tools; they embody our musical essence,” Nancy Wilson stated in a release from the group. “We are devastated and are pleading for their safe return. No questions will be asked. Their sentimental value is incalculable.”
Heart is fronted by Wilson and her sister Anne. They have been making music together since the 1970s and have produced hits such as “Magic Man,” “Crazy On You,” and “Alone.” The band received the Lifetime Achievement Award from the Recording Academy in 2023.
