Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.) criticized “fake” supporters of President Trump’s “Make America Great” (MAGA) movement on Sunday.
“Everyone discovered who the genuine Americans were in the first place/MAGA and who were impostors, as it became popular,” Greene stated. I detailed this in a 355-word post on the platform X, adding that “the number of fakes has unfortunately grown lengthy and is quickly exposed.”
She further asserted, “Anyone who has committed the U.S. to being fully engaged in the Israeli/Iran war is not America First/MAGA.”
Greene’s post underscores the Iran-Israel conflict and the broader foreign policy divisions regarding support for Israel. Some advocate for robust backing and a strong national security stance, while others express reservations.
This message followed Trump’s commentary to ABC News, where he stated, “it could be.”
“We’re not involved in that. We could be involved. But we’re not involved at this point,” Trump said in his ABC News interview.
In a new wave of missile attacks on Israel early Monday, Iran killed at least five individuals. Concurrently, Israel claimed it had neutralized Iran’s defense systems and secured its operational freedom over Tehran, continuing the military conflict that escalated after Israel’s attacks on Iranian nuclear facilities last Thursday.
This ongoing conflict effectively undermined the Trump administration’s efforts to negotiate new nuclear agreements with Iranian leaders.
Trump maintains his call for Iran to return to negotiations for a deal.
Greene emphasized that voters who backed Trump desired peace, arguing that U.S. involvement would be more detrimental to Americans than beneficial.
“The true America First/MAGA desires global peace for everyone, and we don’t wish to jeopardize our military, both physically and mentally, inflicting lasting harm,” she remarked on X.
She also insisted that her stance is “not anti-Semitic,” noting that she has faced scrutiny for previously promoting conspiracy theories about Jews and related issues. I’ve confronted this in the past.
“We are grappling with a staggering $36 trillion in debt,” she continued on Sunday. “While we point out the speck in others’ eyes, we have a beam in our own.”
Greene followed up with another post about an hour later, advocating for “fair critical thinking and honest dialogue” in over 100 words. She highlighted the speculative nature of assessments regarding Iran’s nuclear capabilities.
“For decades, they have claimed that Iran is ‘just a few years away,’ ‘just a few months away,’ or ‘just a few days away,’” she wrote. “However, the reality is that more countries possess some level of nuclear capability than is publicly acknowledged.”
“Asking these questions is not anti-Semitic,” she concluded.
