ANAHEIM, Calif. (AP) — The Los Angeles Angels have acquired seasoned infielder and outfielder La Monte Wade Jr. in exchange for cash from the San Francisco Giants this Sunday.
The Angels will either send San Francisco cash or other players to be named later for Wade, 31, who has been with the Giants since 2021. He was designated for assignment last Wednesday.
Los Angeles right-hander Michael Darrell Hicks was designated for assignment to make room on the 40-man roster.
This season, Wade has compiled a .167 batting average with one home run and 15 RBIs for the Giants. He achieved a career-high .260 last season and earned a reputation in San Francisco for his clutch performances in late-game situations.
The Angels presently have six outfielders on their Major League roster and one infielder, with several players possessing positional flexibility.
Angels general manager Perry Minasian and Giants general manager Zach Minasian are siblings.
