Elon Musk expressed that he is at the forefront of the Republican president’s initiatives to reduce government spending. This legislation raises the deficit and hinders government efficiency, similar to his cost-cutting measures at Doge.
“Frankly, I was disheartened by the substantial spending bill. This not only decreases it but also amplifies the budget deficit and undermines the efforts of the Doge team.”
The House-passed bill prolongs the tax cuts initiated by Trump in his first term, boosting spending on military and border control. Some savings are expected from suggested modifications to Medicaid and the Food Stamp Program.
The Congressional Budget Office reported that the tax provisions would lead to a $3.8 trillion increase in the federal deficit over the next ten years.
The “One Big, Beautiful Bill Act” must still pass through the Senate before it can be signed into law by Trump.
Musk stated, “I believe the bill will be grander and maybe beautiful, but I’m uncertain if it encompasses both. That’s just my personal view.”
