Senator Ted Cruz (R-Texas) described the fallout between President Trump and his former adviser Elon Musk as “incredibly unfortunate” following a tense public spat on social media on Thursday.
During an interview with Sean Hannity on his Fox News program “Hannity,” Cruz shared his disappointment regarding the dispute. The altercation began when Trump criticized Musk’s support for his “big, beautiful” spending bill but escalated when Trump labeled Musk as “crazy.” Musk countered by asserting that the files on disgraced financier Jeffrey Epstein were kept under wraps to shield him. Ultimately, Musk even lent support to Trump’s proposal for a bluff each.
“I think that’s very unfortunate,” Cruz remarked when Hannity brought up the conflict between Trump and Musk. “You and I share a friendship with President Trump, and we are both friends with Elon Musk. They are both remarkable individuals who have accomplished extraordinary things for our country.”
Cruz lauded both figures, referring to Musk as “an incredible inventor” and commending his efforts with the Ministry of Government Efficiency (DOGE). He also applauded Trump for his “incredible work every day.”
“It’s evident that they are both upset,” Cruz noted. “I hope they can find common ground again, because their collaboration yields more benefits for America than their discord.”
Cruz asserted that he believes both Musk and Trump have valid points.
“I think both are correct about merit,” the Texas Senator elaborated. “President Trump is absolutely right. We need to advance this big, beautiful bill, and we’re going to do it, but Elon is also correct that there are improvements needed for the bill.”
The legislation is currently losing traction in the Senate amid Musk’s criticisms and pushback from certain conservative factions.
