Paris (AP) – Loïs Boisson, a standout at the French Open, made a remarkable ascent in her WTA rankings, soaring to 296 after an enchanting journey at Roland Garros.
The French player, who started the semifinals ranked 361st at the Clay Court Grand Slam last week, now stands at 65th in the latest rankings released on Monday.
Coco Gauff triumphed over Boisson in the semi-finals on her path to securing her first French Open title. The top of the rankings remained unchanged, with Aryna Sabalenka maintaining her lead over Gauff and fellow American Jessica Pegula.
Sabalenka faced Gauff in the final of Roland Garros.
Wild card entry Boisson reached the second quarter, defeating third seed Pegula and finishing Gauff’s unexpected run after overcoming sixth seed Mira Andriva.
After retaining the title on Sunday in the longest final ever at Roland Garros against top-ranked Jannik Sinner, Carlos Alcaraz remains in second place in the men’s ATP rankings, trailing behind his Italian rival.
Despite his loss, Sinner increased his lead to 2,030 points, as Alcaraz, the defending champion, failed to earn points. Sinner earned 500 points by reaching the final, a step up from his semi-final loss last year.
Third-ranked Alexander Zverev dropped 900 points following his defeat against Novak Djokovic in the quarter-finals. Djokovic moved up to fifth place, just behind fourth-ranked Jack Draper.
