The counseling and health services company, Equinox, announced on Friday that it experienced a data breach compromising the personal health information of certain current and former clients, along with staff members. The affected individuals have been notified accordingly.
On April 29, the company detected unusual activity within its system. Following an independent forensic investigation, it was determined that an “unauthorized actor accessed and possibly obtained specific files stored in its internal systems.”
The potentially compromised information varies by individual and may include names, Social Security numbers, financial account details, and medication-related information, among other sensitive data. In response, Equinox stated that it has introduced enhanced security measures to help prevent similar incidents in the future.
