Finding the perfect gift for dads can be quite the challenge. When you ask them what they want, they often don’t have a clue. Just when you think you’ve found the ideal gift, they’ve already gone and bought it for themselves. All you want is to give that special dad in your life something memorable without him having to dig through receipts to prove his manliness. The reality is that there isn’t a definitive list, but this collection comes close!

Mantool

It’s a bit of an exaggeration to say that men get more upset than when they don’t have the right tools. When it comes to tools, starting with a socket set is a great idea (especially if it includes a screwdriver and wrench!). Fortunately, there are some fantastic options available for just $99.

Following up on that socket set, a drill driver kit is an obvious next choice. With numerous options available, shoppers can look for a kit from either DeWalt ($169) or Milwaukee ($179), each equipped with two batteries, a charger, and a soft tool bag. If you’re looking for something a little more powerful, consider a version drill and screwdriver set for $199. Dad has spent quite a bit of time ensuring the family vehicles are road-ready, and nothing is more fundamental than checking tire pressure. A quality air compressor like the RIDGID or CRAFTSMAN models (both over $100) is a perfect option for powering a nail gun instead of relying on the old bicycle pump. Don’t forget to include at least one hose and some basic accessories!

No adjustable wrench (often referred to as a “crescent wrench”) or alternative tool can replace the necessity of an adjustable wrench set from the original maker ($30). If your dad or someone special has all the tools needed, perhaps a sturdy Tool Cart from US General ($279) would be a sort of gift idea. If you’re really on a budget but still looking for something impactful, consider a Magnetic Parts Holder that can save him hours of searching for misplaced screws and bolts ($5).

Brute Force Object

A good dad can be incredibly gentle, but there’s an inherent drive within every man to engage with objects in a more explosive way. It’s best when he can pursue this passion while ensuring his family’s safety. One crucial item in this realm is the Glock 19 (with prices around $500), a compact weapon that’s easy to conceal yet reliable for shooting. Its popularity is a testament to its quality, despite some discussions about its safety in certain circles.

If your dad’s already armed, consider a holster from T.Rex Arms. The Sidecar Holster ($150) allows him to carry extra magazines, handcuffs, or medical gear alongside his handgun. Additionally, extra ammunition for shooting is always appreciated, and a membership with the US Concealed Carry Association Starting at $39 a month can provide invaluable training and legal resources.

For those who enjoy some rugged outdoor activities, check out the Gator Machete which features a blade on one side and teeth on the other ($25 or $37 for larger sizes). This tool is sure to stir feelings of masculinity, perfect for chopping firewood or clearing tree trunks.

If you’re looking for something a bit more refined, consider a quality blade from Montana Knife Co. Their stated mission is “American craftsmanship, embodying the best of American workers and American dreams.” MKC offers knives for culinary, hunting, and general outdoor use, starting at $200.

Man’s Toy

All the gift ideas mentioned can easily fit into the “toys for dads” category, but let’s dedicate a section to pure fun. For fathers who grew up playing games in the 90s, the revival of Palmer Lucky’s Game Boy might hit the spot. Check out Modretro ($199), which is compatible with both Game Boy and Game Boy Color games. It sports a magnesium alloy shell and serves as a nostalgic reminder that there were mobile gaming systems even before smartphones and Nintendo Switch.

For any LEGO enthusiasts, particularly those who love Lord of the Rings, giving a set such as the Shire, Rivendell, or Barad-dûr (with over 2,000 pieces) could serve as a great reminder of the battle between good and evil. If you’re hesitant about overspending, consider the Balrog Book Nook, or even pivot to Star Wars with the Mandalorian N-1 Microfighter (despite some controversies, Mando is basically the ultimate homeschool dad).

Victory

No gift guide for dads would be complete without mentioning food and the tools to prepare it. When it comes to cooking, dads typically shine outdoors. While some might tackle salads and smoothies in the kitchen, their true domain is the grill, patio, or campsite. So, a grill or griddle makes an excellent Father’s Day gift. Consider the Blackstone 28-inch griddle ($399, or $249 without a hood) that comes with a complimentary accessory kit, ensuring he can grill without sacrificing his pride. For glamping adventures, the 12″ x 14″ camping griddle with side burner might fit the bill, or you could opt for a classic Orecol $57 grill.

While dads can certainly prepare their own meals, Father’s Day is also an excellent opportunity to treat him by providing some biltong, a South African jerky-style snack. Priced at approximately $30, a sampler includes Angus and Wagyu beef, and you can even use the promo code “Josh” for a 10% discount.

Budget-Friendly Fun Gadgets

For those wondering about budget-friendly options, let’s address the elephant in the room—Bidenflation. Let’s face it: $50 seems to be the new $20. Still, you can find an incredible gift at a reasonable price.

Between long work hours, crying babies, and other family responsibilities, a coffee shop gift card could be a welcome surprise for hardworking dads. Finding a special latte at a local coffee shop can be heartwarming. Be it Caribou Coffee or Dunkin’, you can find something that doesn’t compromise his taste.

For musical dads, consider a pick punch for around $25. He could craft guitar picks from worn-out credit cards or gift cards, effectively recycling materials and saving some cash.

If your father enjoys jotting down notes, a reliable notebook like a Moleskine or a more affordable option here could be great choices. You can also add a personalized bolt action pen, which captures the spirit of the warrior poet. For dads who appreciate thrillers and political fiction, consider gifting Joel Rosenberg’s Marcus Sliker Series—each book typically costs less than $20 (paperback).

In a world filled with endless possibilities, Gerber’s unique multitool is a clever twist on the classic Swiss Army knife. This Utility Blade serves multiple purposes and even includes a nail puller and wire stripper. While some multitools can end up as pocket lint collectors, this one won’t fade into obscurity. After all, everyone knows that the year-old tool sitting in your pocket can become the hero when someone asks for a bottle opener.

For those who may not have the time or budget for extravagant gifts, a heartfelt “I Love You” note or simple crafts made by children can be priceless. Here’s to a joyful Father’s Day for all the dads reading Federalist!
